How many cameras does your building actually need?
Honest math, not "starting at" pricing. Enter your square footage, industry, and access-controlled doors — see a real range built on transparent Wizer numbers.
Honest math, in real time.
Drag, type, and click — numbers update as you go. Final pricing always depends on a site walk, but this gets you in the right ballpark before the conversation starts.
Lobbies, corridors, server room, key offices.
Office / Professional, 15,000 sq ft
A copy is on its way to your inbox. The site-walk locks in a final number.
Per-camera and per-door numbers are all-in (hardware + cabling + install labor + PM allocated). Recording, switches, and additional PM appear as separate lines because they scale with project size, not strictly with camera count.
How the math actually works.
No black box. Here's exactly what the calculator is doing under the hood.
Coverage baseline
1 camera per 750 sq ft — a working rule of thumb for general commercial coverage. The calculator scales this by your industry.
Industry multipliers
Retail (×1.20) and healthcare (×1.15) push higher because of choke points and asset-protection zones. Warehouse (×0.70) and multi-family (×0.85) are lighter because cameras concentrate at perimeters and key rooms, not throughout the whole floorplate.
Outdoor cost weighting
Outdoor cameras need stronger housings, IR illumination, weatherproof PoE, and longer cable runs. As your outdoor mix increases, the floor of the per-camera range rises toward the all-in ceiling.
All-in pricing
$750–$2,500 per installed camera and $2,000–$3,500 per access-controlled door include hardware, cabling, install labor, and project-management allocation — derived from real Wizer projects in the DMV.
Coverage rules of thumb, answered.
This calculator is a budgeting tool, not a binding quote. Final pricing depends on a site walk: existing cabling condition, ceiling type, conduit and fire-rating requirements, building access windows, and integration scope all move the number. We always confirm with eyes on the building before issuing a proposal.
Site walk in DC, MD, or VA.
We'll walk the site, document what's there, and come back with a line-item proposal. If you're already getting quoted, we'll review the bid for free.
The system is only as good as the team supporting it.
When the install is done, the system has to keep working — through firmware drift, staff changes, ISP outages and the day someone unplugs the wrong thing. Wizer Managed Site Operations keeps it that way.
